October 1st Marks National Vegetarian Day

Plant-Based Yum!

October 1st marks National Vegetarian Day and what better way to celebrate than by taking a trip around the globe? With a quarter of a million consumers opting for plant-based diets in January alone, it’s no secret that there’s a high demand for vegetarian and vegan-friendly dining options among travelers. Major cruise lines like Oceania, Regent and Royal Caribbean started catering to vegetarians, and, now, hotels and resorts are following suit. Three incredible getaways in the Caribbean, Mexico and the United States are making going meatless look easy…and they’re doing it with style.

Spread across a 600-acre tropical estate with sprawling beaches and some of the most striking blue waters in the Caribbean, the Anse Chastanet is a one-of-a-kind 49-room resort with uninterrupted views of the island’s majestic twin Piton mountains. The resort has transformed its popular Emerald restaurant into a vegan eatery with stand-out dishes made with ingredients from the resort’s on-site organic farm. Among the dishes are Bread Fruit Gnocchi, Crispy Cauliflower Accras and local Carambola Panzanella. To keep things interactive, they also offer farm tours complete with vegan cooking classes for guests who want to learn how to make these incredible dishes back home. The property even features a dedicated Vegan Chef de Cuisine. Guests of the famed Jade Mountain five-star sister resort next door also have access to Anse’s vegan-friendly offerings.

A chic boutique hotel nestled in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Casa Delphine is walking distance from the city’s bustling center, but it is charming and tranquil enough for an intimate escape. The property features five suites with in-room fireplaces, balconies overlooking a private courtyard and/or city and a daily complimentary vegan breakfast inspired by fresh, local ingredients. The property also hosts pop-up vegan dinners led by rotating local chefs for a unique, vegetarian-friendly taste of what the city has to offer.

The Ranch, an intensive endurance, wellness and nutrition program, is dedicated to improving the quality of life by improving health. The program consists of eight daily hours of low impact activity– including daily hikes, fitness classes, yoga and massages. This intense physical regimen is complemented by a 1,400 calorie-a-day, organic vegan diet inspired by the surrounding nature, with menus that source ingredients directly from The Ranch’s on-site organic garden and nearby farms. Guests are also encouraged to participate in a weekly cooking class where they’re taught to replicate vegan meals at The Ranch so they can continue their new healthy lifestyle back home.
